TotalTV Measurement
TotalTV measurement expands TV audience measurement to include Yle Areena, MTV Katsomo and Ruutu viewing with more granularity.
TotalTV measures viewing on all devices, including mobile devices. The measurement combines data from panel households with video measurements from TV companies.

1. What does TotalTV measure about the online use of panel households?
FocalMeter, a measuring device installed in panel households, identifies the viewing devices (computers, tablets, smartphones, smart TVs and media players) connected to the household’s network and the Yle Areena, MTV Katsomo and Ruutu content viewed on them.
2. Why combine TV and online viewing data?
TV companies need comparable data on TV and online TV viewing to develop their businesses and monitor trends, and they aim to track the consumption of TV content on different devices in a comprehensive and comparable way.
3. How can the research results be used?
The research can even provide information about specific programmes and the full spectrum of online viewing figures (including average viewer figures, service level information, reach, profiles, overall reach).
We publish programme-specific (top list) key figures based on TotalTV data on the Finnpanel website.
4. Who is involved in developing the research?
MTV Oy, Nelonen Media and Yle are currently involved in TotalTV measurement. The measurement is carried out by Finnpanel and Kantar Media. Census data is currently provided by Adobe and Sanoma.
5. Is the currency of TV advertising changing?
The currency of TV advertising will not change, and the current TV audience measurement will continue to facilitate advertising transactions.
